Principal’s Message

Kia ora whānau,

We have some incredibly exciting milestones on the horizon. Preparation is well underway for our spectacular school production coming up at the Bruce Mason Centre. It is a massive team effort, with our teachers and performance team working tirelessly alongside students to co-construct dances and finalise the script. This show is a true celebration of our community and we know that every child will be on stage shining!

Regards, Devika and the TPS team

School Production update

The theatre is booked, the students are busily practising their dance moves and rehearsing their lines all in preparation for our musical extravaganza “The Tomorrow Tablet” at the Bruce Mason Centre on Wednesday 1 July.

Number of performances:

There are two performances, a matinee (practice) in the afternoon and the main evening performance at 6:30pm.

Every child is to attend both performances.

Organisation on the day: Wednesday 1 July

On the day of the show we will walk to the Bruce Mason Centre and spend the day there rehearsing and then performing in the matinee.  We will need parent helpers to support us as we walk there and back (you do not stay for the day). Teachers will reach out soon.

As we will be at the Bruce Mason Centre all day there will be no lunch orders that day. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and drink bottle. Children will also need to bring shoes suitable for walking, a raincoat, and their school jumper.

After the matinee we will return to school in time for the 3:00pm pick up and after school care will operate as usual, sometimes things don’t always go to plan in terms of timing, we ask for your patience if we’re running slightly later than 3:00pm.

Evening Performance:

In the evening please drop your child off at the Bruce Mason Centre at 5:30pm. We will be there to greet you and will ensure your child gets to their teacher. They may also like to bring a named drink bottle. Please make sure the children eat an early dinner before the show as they will not be eating during the wait time or performance.

At the end of the evening performance the children will be brought out to the main foyer. Teachers will need to sight a parent or caregiver for every student, please be patient as this could take some time. We anticipate a finish time of approximately 8:30pm.

Tickets will be on sale soon. You will need to get tickets directly from ticketmaster.

Student Celebrations

We welcomed Jason and Janet from Auckland Transport, they ran a full day workshop for our TPS Bike Ambassadors!

Lovely to see our students enjoying building with lego during lunchtime.

TPS BOARD NEWS

On behalf of the School Board we are seeking YOUR support in helping the school achieve the next set of goals so we can continue to provide excellent outcomes for all our students.

We have a strong and committed Board, however we require some additional horsepower. Due to an international opportunity we will soon be losing one board member and we are also looking to create co-op opportunities to assist with a number of projects and initiatives.

These projects include but are not limited to:

  • Alumni: Leading the preparation for our 2029 ‘150th!!’ school reunion.
  • Marketing: Creating and Enhancing a school social presence.
  • Legal: Legal related support across Board committees & projects.
  • Te Ao Māori: Consulting on cultural engagement & uplift and ensuring Māori voice is heard.
  • Grants Specialist: Working to obtain additional school funding.

If you, extended family (or friends) have skills and/or interest in these areas or the School Board in general, we would love the opportunity to chat. It’s a brilliant way to volunteer with your school, gain governance experience and give back to your community.

We are mindful that time is often constrained, so options do exist to either join as a Board Member, or simply support a committee on a distinct piece of work. At the end of the day it’s all about ensuring great outcomes for our learners.

Please email the TPS Board at takapunaboard@tps.school.nz with any questions or interest.

SCHOOL DONATIONS

 An investment in our students

Our mission at Takapuna Primary School is to deliver a great quality learning environment that supports a quality education. To support this, we are seeking your help.

Your school donations make a very real difference to us as a state-funded public school. Our basic costs are met by the Ministry of Education, but it’s the money we receive from our school community that really allows us to provide opportunities, equipment and teaching beyond what is funded by the government.

The school donation for 2026 is $260 per student, or $420 for families with two or more students.

We can arrange weekly, fortnightly, or monthly instalments via internet banking if this helps spread the cost. Importantly, donations are tax deductible so approximately one third of every donation can be claimed back as a tax credit. That means for a $260 donation you receive $86 back in your wallet. Your actual donation cost is just $174.

To make your donation payments please go to the ‘Hero’ app and click on ‘Student Billing’. Alternatively, any payments can also be made directly into the school bank account 12 3026 0792484 00 – if doing so, please ensure you include your child’s name and ‘donation’ as reference on the payment.

Any queries regarding payments can be directed to our accounts team: accounts@tps.school.nz

If you would like to know more about how the School Board operates, and/or would be interested in understanding how else you can help, please contact: takapunaboard@tps.school.nz

IMPORTANT

If your child is LATE, please make sure they sign in at the office upon arriving at school.

If they are RETURNING to school after an appointment offsite, they MUST sign in at the office BEFORE going to their classroom.
