Announcement :

Book 3-Way Conferences NOW (Wednesday 10 & Thursday 11 April)

Cluster Sports

Students have the opportunity to represent TPS in many Cluster competitions throughout the year. These students are carefully selected from our School events: Swimming Sports, Cross Country, and Athletics.

Cluster Swimming Sports

Takapuna Primary School is part of the Pupuke Cluster, along with Milford, St Joseph’s, & Forrest Hill. The selected students from each school attend the Pupuke Cluster swimming to compete against each other for overall placings. Year 4-6 students are selected from a timed trial held at school with 24 competitors who attend (4 children from each gender and age level). Each child will swim a minimum of three races – freestyle, breast-stroke and back-stroke. Butterfly will be optional, though the expectation is that the correct technique is used. If time permits there will also be a relay race, but not all competitors will take part in this event.

This event is held at Takapuna Primary School Pool in Term One every year. Parental assistance is always required on the day of the event. This is always welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Cluster Cross Country

The Pupuke Cluster Cross Country is held at Killarney Park, Takapuna each year in Term 3 for selected Year 4-6 students. 24 students (4 students from each gender and year level) are selected to represent Takapuna Primary School against our fellow Cluster schools: Milford, St Joseph’s, & Forrest Hill.

Year 4 students run two laps of Killarney Park and Year 5/6 students run three laps. It involves flat and then bumpy surfaces, as well as some downhill running, then finishing with a steep hill at the end of each lap.

The students run in their school sports shirt and may wear sports shorts of their choice. They need their school uniform to change into after their race. We stipulate that the children must wear sneakers as the ground may have sharp twigs or other objects that could hurt the runners’ feet. Please also ensure that your child has a healthy morning tea, lunch with a full water bottle, and any necessary medication.

Cluster Athletics

Pupuke Cluster Athletics are held each year towards the end of Term 4. Year 4-6 students are selected to represent Takapuna Primary School at the Takapuna Athletics Club, Akoranga Drive, Northcote. Students will compete against the other Cluster schools: Milford, St Joseph’s, and Forrest Hill.

Each child competes in all 6 events: Shot Put, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, Hurdles, and 100m Sprints. The top 3 placings are taken from each age group, gender, and event and these students will receive certificates.

Parental assistance is always required on the day for the event to run smoothly and is greatly appreciated.

Cluster Football

Takapuna Primary participate in two Football tournaments during the year. These are usually held in Term 4 for Y3-6 boys and girls.
